    وتضع النقابة ضمن أولوياتها العمل على مراعاة الالتزام بتقاليد المهنة وآدابها ومبادئها، وإعمال ميثاق الشرف الصحفي، ومحاسبة الخارجين عليه طبقا للإجراءات المحددة المنصوص عليها في قانون النقابة وقانون تنظيم الصحافة.

    7- نقابة الصحفيين هي الإطار الشرعي الذي تتوحد فيه جهود الصحفيين دفاعا عن المهنة وحقوقها، وهى المجال الطبيعي لتسوية المنازعات بين أعضائها وتأمين حقوقهم المشروعة.

    6- شرف المهنة وآدابها وأسرارها، أمانة في عنق الصحفيين، وعليهم التقيد بواجبات الزمالة في معالجة الخلافات التي تنشأ بينهم أثناء العمل أو بسببه.

    5- للصحافة مسئولية خاصة تجاه صيانة الآداب العامة وحقوق الإنسان والمرأة، والأسرة والطفولة والأقليات، والملكية الفكرية للغير.

    4- الصحافة رسالة حوار ومشاركة، وعلى الصحفيين واجب المحافظة على أصول الحوار وآدابه، ومراعاة حق القارئ في التعقيب والرد الصحيح، وحق عامة المواطنين في حرمة حياتهم الخاصة وكرامتهم الإنسانية.

    3- حق المواطنين في المعرفة هو جوهر العمل الصحفي وغايته، وهو ما يستوجب ضمان التدفق الحر للمعلومات، وتمكين الصحفيين من الحصول عليها من مصادرها، وإسقاط أي قيود تحول دون نشرها والتعليق عليها.

    2- الحرية أساس المسئولية، والصحافة الحرة هي الجديرة وحدها، بحمل مسئولية الكلمة وعبء توجيه الرأي العام على أسس حقيقية.

    1- حرية الصحافة من حرية الوطن، والتزام الصحفيين بالدفاع عن حرية الصحافة واستقلالها عن كل مصادر الوصاية والرقابة والتوجيه والاحتواء واجب وطني ومهني مقدس.

    1. General Principles
    2. The freedom of the press is part of the freedom of the nation, and the commitment of journalists to defend the freedom and independence of the press from all sources of tutelage, censorship, orientation, and containment is a national and professional sacred duty.
    3. Freedom is the basis of responsibility. The free press shall exclusively have the merit of bearing the responsibility of the word and the burden of guiding public opinion on factual grounds.
    4. The rights of citizens to access information is the core and goal of journalism, for which reason free flow of information shall be ensured and journalists shall be allowed to access information from their sources. All constraints on the dissemination of or commenting on information shall be eliminated.
    5. The press upholds a message of dialogue and participation. Journalists shall bear the obligation of preserving the fundamentals and ethics of dialogue while giving full consideration to the right of readers to correct comments and answers and the public right of citizens to the preservation of the sanctity of their lives and human dignity.
    6. The press shall assume a special responsibility vis-à-vis the maintenance of public morals, human rights, and rights of women, families, childhood, minorities and third parties’ intellectual property.
    7. The honour, ethics and secrets of the profession shall be upheld by journalists, who shall live up to their fellowship obligations when addressing any disputes that may arise among them during the course or as a result of performing their work.
