
A Refreshment Training Course for Expert Translators
We are starting this new course on November 14th, 2019 up till November 20th, 2019. Our candidate is Guest an expert translator wishing to take this refreshment course for the purposes of self-development.
What is the course about?
It addresses basic and advanced aspects of translation. They are in particular:

Common mistakes in Arabic | Avoid msitakes in Arabic when we translate from English into Arabic. Mistakes are addressed on the sentence and cohesion levels. |
English-Arabic Translation | Checking your English-Arabic translation |
MemoQ | CATs are important for the work of translation. Our goal, here, is to explain and review MemoQ and understand how it works and why it is used. |
Legal translation | Exposure to legal concepts and how they affect translation, especially the use of free translation with the aim of achieving the required legal effect. We also review our understanding of legal linguistic functions. |
Arabic-English translation | Checking on your Arabic-English translation |
Theory of translation | Some theories of translation from Jermy Munday's book are reviewed. |
Mode of Delivery
Basically, all lessons are exchanged here in this thread. The candidate is asked to do certain exercises. There will be also three webinars where the candidate can ask questions and share with the other attendees her thoughts about the translation. YouTube videos will have to be reviewed beforehand, as will be explained in this thread. Webinars will take place on Saturday, Monday and Wednesday at 9-11 PM, Amman time.

Certificate
A certificate of attendance (the training is equivalent to 14 hours) will be issued by our partner the Jordanian Association of Translators and Applied Linguists.

Fees
The forums will not charge the candidate any fees, but JATAL will charge JOD20.00 in return for supervising the course and certifying the training (the certificate).
Note: While this course addresses one candidate only, other members of the forums are welomce to share their thoughts and to attend the webinars.
