Preparation- Level Zero:
In this preparatory exercise, you will learn how to talk, talk, talk and talk without stop to improve your fluency.
The facilitator will instruct you to write down some words for your reference before you begin.
The video will be from Learn to Speak English software. Your lesson is about a man arriving to the United States. The passport control officer is asking him some questions, then he proceeds to the customs officer to answer other questions. It seems so far that the man is a tourist.

Lesson 1:
Always use a notepad to note down any word, expression or problem you are facing while interpreting. The exercise's topic addresses reasons for entering university. There are two levels of this exercise and you can choose whichever you feel comfortable with.

Level 1- In this exercise, you are required to interpret everything you hear into Arabic. Your interpretation must show the following ideal traits:
1- Fluency and tone
2- Adherence to grammar in Arabic
3- Wise word choice (not necessarily accurate)

Level 2- In this exercise, you are required to interpret everything you hear into Arabic. You cannot rewind the video, but you do not need to worry if there are pauses in your interpretation.

Part 1: From English into Arabic:
This lesson exposes you to a genre in language interpreting that requires you to interpret general or welcoming remarks. Those are almost cliches in every conference, seminar or workshop and you need to practice them extensively so that they become part of your competence. Watch this video and interpret what you hear from English into Arabic. Share the results in a comment.

Part 2: From Arabic into English
Write down on your notebook any names, titles and expressions that you will use in the interpretation. You are expected to use your notes efficiently in helping your short-term memory.

Exercise on Concentration
Concentration means we focus our attention on a single object and avoid any distraction. In this exercise, you are required to interpret without pauses what the young man says.

I had a great experience in my first lesson on the interpretation course. It was my first time to live the experience of interpreting. The sequence of going from easy to hard exercises, and from Arabic to English was perfect and helped me to break the ice. The main things I've learned was the following points:
- make the words alive and not to talk like a robot, this will keep the reader attention (intonation)
- keep the breath to have the right pronunciation of the words
- read the words grmmaerly correct (al-harakat in the Arabic language)
- we can move on if we didn't catch up with the speaker and we don't have to say every single worst, what is important is to keep going and never stop and never leave gaps between words or sentences
- we can take notes while listening to the speaker to make it easier to remember the words, names, and numbers
- understanding the context will help you to translate every part
- your past experience can be helpful by connecting them with the subject we are interpreting, this will help us to live the situation
- we need to stay cool, bold, and ready to keep talking even if he is just saying anything that helps him\her to fill the gaps

مرحبًا بكم جميعًا, يسرني في أول مشاركة لي في هذا المنتدى أن أقدم لكم ملخص ما فهمته في المحاضرة الأولى لدورة الترجمة الفورية التي بدأت يوم الجمعة, العاشر من كانون الأول.
بدأت في المحاضرة الأولى بتعلم مهارة الانطلاق في الترجمة دون خوف وتحدثنا كذلك عن الحرص على مبدأ تموج المترجم في التنغيم Intonation بحيث يتناسب معانسيابية المتحدث أو المتحدثين الأصليين في التنغيم أثناء الحوار. كما أنه عند توقف المتحدث الأصلي أثناء الكلام, يستحسن أن يستخدم المترجم عبارات لا تخل بالمعنى بحيث يبدو طبيعيًا طليقًا في الكلام بالإضافة إلى عدم تشتت المستمعين أثناء هذه الوقفات. كما تعرضت لمقاطع مختلفة بمستويات مختلفة من الصعوبة وهذا الأسلوب يعرف باسم الصعوبة المدرجة Gradual Difficulty. ونجم عن هذا الأسلوب أنني كنت قائد عملية التعلم مما جعلني أكثر وعيًا بنقاط ضعفي وقوتي. وقد تعرفت إلى مفاهيم جديدة في علم النفس أدمجت في عملية التعلم بفضل براعة كل من المدرب والمترجمتين, مثل الPriming والتجسير Bridging التي تتعلق بربط معلومات جديدة بمعلومات موجودة في الدماغ أصلا. كما تعرفت إلى الفرق بين التعلم التكيفي Conditional learning والتعلم المفاهيمي Conceptual Learning الذي يتمثل في أن الأول يتمحور حول وضع المتعلم في سيناريو لديه تصور مسبق عنه أثناء التعلم والتدريب. وأما الثاني فيتضمن إعطاء المتعلم مفاهيم رئيسة أثناء عملية التعلم. كما تعلمت أن أترجم بقدر ما أفهم في حال وجود ضوضاء أو ظروف لا يمكن السيطرة عليها بصورة أو بأخرى.
التوقعات:
أتوقع خلال استمراري في هذه الدورة أن أتعرض لسيناريوهات مختلفة بمستويات صعوبة متنوعة وفي مواضيع شتى. هذا التعريض سيؤدي إلى صقل مهارات أساسية مثل الانطلاق والانسيابية في الترجمة وزيادة التركيز في المقاطع التي أترجمها. كما أتوقع معرفة نظرية وعملية أوسع في استخدام تقنيات التعلم لإكمال المسير بعد هذه الدورة وكذلك التضلع بمهارات المترجم الفوري وكيفية استخدامها بالإضافة إلى توسيع مداركيفي المواضيع التي أترجم فيها.

تعقيباً على حلقة الترجمة الشفهية: المترجم الفوري المتدرّب يَسمع ويُفّسر ويتحدث في نفس الوقت ويستمر في تدوين الملاحظات حتى لا يفوته أي من التفاصيل المهمة ؛كالأسماء والأرقام والإحصاءات والتعليمات وغيرها .. ويوصلها إلى المستمع. وأهم مهمة عند المترجم الفوري المتدرب هي تسهيل الإتصال بمواضيع مختلفة حسب ما يطلبه العميل منه بشكل عام ، قد يساعده أن يحصل على البريف لكي يحّضر مسبقاً ويبحث عن الموضوع ، ولكي يسْهَل عليه التنبؤ عن ما سوف يقوله المتحدث أثناء آداء الترجمة الفورية، ( هناك استثناء في الترجمة القانونية،في المحكمة بسبب حماية الخصوصية). فتحضير المصطلحات الفنية والمتخصصة المستخدمة أثناء الحدث قد تُربك المترجم الفوري وتشعره بالإحباط والحزن إذا لم يعرفها. والمترجم الفوري المتدرب يتمتع بجودة صوتٍ عالٍ ونبرةٍ ووضوح أثناء التحدث بأي لغة.المترجم الفوري المتدرب لا يتلعثم ولا يتشوش ولا يأخذ وقفة ملحوظة طويلة جداً إنما يبقى سلسأً وإنسيابياً وعلى درجة عالية من اليقظة والتركيز وحسن المتابعات حتى ينتهي المتحدث من كلامه .
المترجم الفوري المتدرب يتوخى السرعة والدقة في توصيل كلام المتحدث مع أخذ بعين الإعتبار جميع الإختلافات الثقافية للغة المتحدث ولغة الجمهور.
فالمترجم الفوري المتدرب يبدأ بالمستوى البدائي ثم يقّيم مستواه، فإذا شعر بالملل يصعد إلى المستوى المتوسط أو ربما إلى المستوى الأعلى
ويعود ويتدرج نزولاً ولكي لا يقع في الملل ولا في الإحباط والحزن والتشاؤوم وهنا نتحدث عن الفلسفة العبثية( كامو) ، والعدميّة( نيتشه ) والتشاؤمية( شوبنهاور) . لماذا إعتمد المنسق الدكتور محمد أبو ريشة على إعطاء المترجم المتدرب عمر هذا الأسلوب لأنه يريد أن يتدرب عمر على عدة مستويات من السهل إلى المتوسط ثم إلى السريع
فلو بقى عمر في مستوى السهل قد يقع في الملل لأنه أدنى من مستواه وإذا تدرج إلى المستوى الصعب قد يشعر بالإحباط
إذن أين الحل ؟
وجد محمد أن الحل يكون بالتدرج بين المستويات، إذ يختار عمر المستوى الذي يناسبه ويتنقل بين المستويات كما يريد والسؤال
من أين جاءت فكرة التعليم المتدرج؟ أي أن نعطي المتدرب عدة نماذج لنفس الموضوع ونترك له الإختيار
يقول محمد أنها أتت من النظرية التشاؤمية والنظرية التشاؤمية هي وجهة نظر كيف ينظر الشخص إلى العالم من حوله ،فقد ينظر إلى الحياة بعمق، أو قد يقف ويقول " الحياة فارغة،وكلها ألم. " فلسفة كامو وشوبنهاور.نيتشه الذي قال أن الحياة بلا قيمة ونحن قتلنا الإله وهو من جاء بفكرة سوبرمان وفكرة النايليزم يستشهد بسبانج بوب عندما يقول لشفيق " الحياة تمشي كما يلي، العميل يطلب البرغر، أنت تصنع البرغر، أنا أوصل البرغر، ويستمر الوضع ٤٠ سنة لكن نموت ". فالإحباط قد يُوصِل المُحبَط إلى الإنتحار.
فالإنتقال بين المستويات يشبه بندول الساعة مرة هيك ومرة هيك تماماً كما الحياة فالإنسان يشعر حيناً بالهدوء والملل ومرة يشعر بالألم فيعمل من أجل هدف ما ويعود يقع في الروتين ع ،فيشتغل ويتعب ثم يريد المزيد أكثر وأكثر .الدكتور محمد يطبق هذا المبدأ في إستراتيجيات التعليم فالمنسق يساعد المتدرب في إيجاد الوسطية كي لا يقع المتدرب لا في الألم ولا في الملل
وكانت حجته الفلسفة التشاؤمية .

reflections on the second session of the simultanious interpreting training
I would like to share with you some thoughts from the second session, which was on monday, dec 13th, 2021. like the first session, the learning style was the interpersonal learning style. with the assistance of the trainer and the two interpreters, I started in building the skill of interpreting smoothly regardless of the accuracy through doing some exercises. I also started writing key words or words that seem confusing. then, we moved to the fluency in interpreting. through comparing my performance with the performance of the trainer and the interpreters, I learned to focus on intonation, repeat some expressions when necessary and omit some phrases if what is said is already understood. if the circumstances are not good for interpreting, I learned to behave indifferently in terms of intonation, highlight the key points and interpret them. finally, I learned about spacing in neuroscience, which enhances the ability of anticipation.

I guess you captured everything we said. When you practice, though, try to be natural even if you make mistakes. Knowing those skills is certainly important, but it is also important that you give yourself the chance to practice at your own pace.
