The month of Ramadan is the best month for God.
In this month, Muslims are expected to fast during the day and diligently perform supererogatory prayers at night.
It is a great opportunity for Muslims to get their supply of goodness.
It is the month when God revealed the Quran on Prophet Muhammad, may God bless him and grant him peace.
God says in the Quran “Ramadan is the month where God revealed the Quran as a guidance to people to show them guidance and the difference between right and wrong.”
When receiving the month of Ramadan, people are of two types.
There are people who follow the tradition of the prophet, may God bless him and grant him peace and that of his companions.
Those welcome the month by praying to God, rejoice it, prepare themselves for devoting themselves to it to become closer to God.
There are other people who receive the month and the fasting duty as an awful obligation.
They do not feel happy in Ramadan.
They can hardly wait its end.
They feel Ramadan an unwelcomed guest.
They are relieved once it ends.
Fasting is one of the five pillars of Islam.
A Muslim’s faith is not complete unless he practices fasting in Ramadan.
Prophet Muhammad may God bless him and grant him peace ordains that: “Islam is built on five pillars. They are to bear witness there is no god except God and that Muhammad is His servant and messenger, to perform prayers, to pay zakat, to perform pilgrimage to Mecca and to fast the days of Ramadan.

That is why Ramadan is not the happiest month for them, and they cannot wait until it is over. They feel Ramadan is an unwanted guest and are relieved when it finishes.

Fasting during the days of Ramadan is a compulsory practice for Muslims and is one of the five pillars of Islam. That is to say, a servant cannot be truly counted as a Muslim if he does not show belief in the ordained practice of fasting in Ramadan. Prophet Muhammad may God bless him and grant him peace ordains that: “Islam is built on five pillars.
